This is a blog/commonplace book offering a Quaker perspective on our current moment. The plan, as of 2019, is to lean more on the latter than the former, in the hopes that that sustained, regular posting on small stuff will be more worthwhile than sporadic posting on big stuff.
I’m Isaac Smith, a member of Frederick Friends Meeting in Frederick, Maryland. The views expressed here do not necessarily represent those of the entire Frederick Friends community.
The title is a reference to Quaker Robert Barclay’s 1674 tract The Anarchy of the Ranters, and Other Libertines, the Hierarchy of the Romanists, and Other Pretended Churches, Equally Refused and Refuted, &c. Pro tip: If you’re looking for a title for your blog, book, or other creative work, 17th century Protestant tracts are a veritable cornucopia.
