This is what I’m calling a pop-up blog, meaning it’s of limited focus (a Quaker perspective on our current moment) and of limited duration (it may run for a month or two, as the way opens).

I’m Isaac Smith, a member of Frederick Friends Meeting in Frederick, Maryland. The views expressed here do not necessarily represent those of the entire Frederick Friends community.

The title is a reference to Quaker Robert Barclay’s 1674 tract The Anarchy of the Ranters, and Other Libertines, the Hierarchy of the Romanists, and Other Pretended Churches, Equally Refused and Refuted, &c. Pro tip: If you’re looking for a title for your blog, book, or other creative work, 17th century Protestant tracts are a veritable cornucopia.
